LCDR Troy 'Wildman' Wild

Commanding Officer VFA-41

LCDR Wild joined the VUSN in June of 2002. After initial UPT, he served in AIRLANT with VFA-87 'Golden Warriors'. While serving with VFA-87, LCDR Wild participated in Operation Northern Fury, an UNAF operation in Alaska. ONF was conducted online in conjunction with other virtual forces from around the world. During ONF, LCDR Wild was credited with five confirmed air-air kills, and was awarded the ONF Ace Medal.

When the AIRPAC fleet was formed, LCDR Wild was chosen to be the Executive Officer, and a founding member of VFA-22 'Fighting Redcocks'. During his service with VFA-22, LCDR Wild participated in Operation Home Coming, the initial deployment of the USS Reagan from the east coast of the United States, to her home port in San Diego, CA. During Operation Home Coming, LCDR Wild and the members of VFA-22 were awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation. LCDR Wild served with VFA-22 until 27 March 2003, when he took command of the new VFA-41 'Black Aces'.

A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMANDING OFFICER

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the newest AIRPAC STKFITRON, VFA-41 'BLACK ACES'!

I will do my best to make your stay and experience with the 'Black Aces' as enjoyable and realistic as I can. To do this, the staff and myself will provide training and help in any area that you need and want. We will concentrate on the elements of naval aviation, mainly formation flying, carrier ops, and simulated air and ground combat missions.

We encourage you to fly as much as possible online, mainly on VATSIM. This will facilitate the ability to fly in formations and build team work with your squadron mates and other VUSN pilots and squadrons. If you are not familiar with the online environment, we will teach you. Just let us know.

Online flying is the cornerstone of the organisation, but there are instances were offline flying can be beneficial to building your skills. Practicing carrier ops and instrument navigation are two examples of this. Remember though, what you can and can not do will be evident when you do fly online with other pilots, so please take advantage of the offline benefits, and be honest with us, and yourself about your abilities. We are here to help, and will make every effort to do so.
